LA STEM Expo and Core Elements STEMday

LA STEM Expo

The LA STEM Expo is a science festival hosted by Kenilworth Middle School. Students from all over Louisiana compete with science projects and there are also exhibitors (like us) there just to enhance the science environment. I had a great time showcasing local herps and discussing our natural history research at the Museum.

This was held on Monday, May 7 at Patrick F. Taylor Hall (LSU Engineering Bldg). More Info: https://www.lastemexpo.org/copy-of-about-the-expo

Ryan Burner (birds), myslef (herps), and Valerie (mammals) had a great time at the STEM expo!

Core Elements STEMday at Babycakes Stadium

We participated in STEMday at the Babycakes stadium in New Orleans. Core Elements did a great job this year and the venue was exciting (there was a game going on!). We decided to teach kids about different habitat types, so we brought an arboreal, fossorial, and aquatic representatives from mammals, snakes, and amphibians. There were 8-10,000 kids there all very excited to learn about science!

Janie from Master Naturalist also joined myself and Valerie. It was her first time volunteering with us, but she did an excellent job teaching kids about different mammals and habitat types.
